All the linework was hand drawn by my good friend Kyler Suchey. I was honored to contribute by coloring his original piece. 

Here’s what Kyler has to say about the meaning behind it:

“To me, this piece encompasses all of my grief, all of my pain, all of the struggles I have endured over the last year. I believe, however, that it is hopeful. He is not pressing the Spear of Athena into his head, but removing it. The bees in the skull no longer represent anxiety and fear, but new life—life after pain. It is rebirth, renewal. The orange tree is no longer just shade for the dead, but bounty and abundance for what comes after. It is starting over from the end and becoming something new. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed making it.”
